Brave Rescue: Ukrainian Firefighters Save Cat from Seventh Floor of Bombed Building, Stirring Hearts

The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has left thousands of civilians dead and millions displaced from their homes, but through it all there are still people risking their lives to help others.

That includes helping animals. We’ve seen many inspiring stories of Ukrainians in the war-torn country helping animals survive.

That was the case recently, after emergency workers came to the rescue of a cat who was trapped on the 7th floor of a destroyed building.

The news was shared by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The cat was reportedly trapped in a residential high-rise in the city of Borodianka, near Kyiv, that had been destroyed by Russian bombs.

The poor cat had been up there for two months after the attack, but Ukrainian rescue services recently came to the rescue.

In a video shared on Facebook, a firefighter is transported by ladder truck to the 7th story of the bombed-out building, and he’s able to carry the cat to safety in his jacket.

Once safely back on the ground, the cat is given water. The rescued feline, now named “Ginger,” is in the care of ZooPatrol, a Ukrainian animal rescue.

In a Facebook post, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine praised everyone who went out of their way to help this cat, painting the rescue as a symbol of the resilience and kindness of the Ukrainian people.

“Thanks to ZooPatrol and everyone who kept their fingers crossed for this cat,” they wrote. “Ginger is said to bring good luck. So let her accompany every good heart that was involved in this incredible rescue operation!”

Thank you to these firefighters for saving this poor cat. We’re so glad that people are still going out of their way to help animals despite everything that is going on.
